Private by design, not as a setting

Earnest is private by design: it runs entirely on the device with no account, no ads, no content interception, and no data collection. It unlocks apps and counts time, and it never reads messages or browsing.

Coming to Android. Free during early access, no card required.

How privacy works in Earnest

Most parental apps are built around monitoring, which means collecting a lot about your child. Earnest takes the opposite path: it is a launcher and a task tracker that happens to lock apps, so it simply does not need that data.

Works offline

Everything runs on the phone using a local database. There is no cloud service to sign into and nothing syncs off the device.

No account required

No email, no profile for your kid, and no login wall. You set a local PIN and start, and there is no server that could leak.

No ads, ever

A kids app with no advertising and nothing trying to sell to your child inside the experience.

No content interception

Earnest does not read messages, browsing, or the contents of other apps. It sees which app is in front so it can lock reward apps, nothing more.

What works today

The offline, no-account, local-first design is how Earnest is built right now, including a PIN stored only as a hash and a build with no network libraries. For the full policy, including how this website uses analytics and the waitlist form, read the privacy policy and the security page.

Common questions

Does Earnest collect my data?

The app itself collects nothing and has no network libraries in the build, so there is no analytics or tracking inside it. This website uses standard analytics and a waitlist form, which we disclose on the site privacy page.

Does Earnest read messages or browsing on the phone?

No. It does not intercept content. To lock reward apps it only needs to know which app is in the foreground, and it queries launchable apps rather than scanning everything on the device.

Is there a cloud account to hack?

No. There is no account and no server holding your family data. Everything lives in a local database on your device, and the PIN is stored only as a hash.
