Privacy Policy
The Earnest Android app collects nothing. It runs entirely on your device, needs no account, and has no way to send your family's information anywhere. This website is separate, and it does use analytics and a waitlist form, which we disclose in full below.

What does the Earnest app collect?
Nothing. The Earnest app stores your quests, balances, approvals, and settings in a local database on the device itself. The build ships with no networking libraries, so it has no technical means to transmit data off the phone. There is no cloud account, no analytics inside the app, no advertising, and no third-party trackers.
Earnest does not read your messages, monitor your browsing, or intercept the content of other apps. It counts time against apps you choose and unlocks them when time is available. That is the extent of what it observes on the device.
Do you need an account or personal information?
No. Earnest does not ask a child or a parent to create an account, and it does not require an email address, phone number, or profile to work. Names and avatars you enter for your kids stay on the device and are used only to label their quests and balances inside the app.
How does Earnest handle children's privacy?
Earnest is designed with children's privacy as a first principle. Because the app collects no personal information, requires no account, and runs offline, there is no personal data about a child for us to receive, store, or share. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app, and we do not sell or share any such information because we do not have it.
We describe our practices honestly rather than claiming a certification we do not hold. If you are a parent and you have any question about how Earnest treats your child's information, please email privacy@earnestplay.com and we will answer plainly.
What does this website collect?
This website, earnestplay.com, is separate from the app and does use measurement tools so we can understand what people find useful. We use two analytics services:
- Google Analytics 4, which measures aggregate page visits and traffic sources. It runs with consent denied by default, so its advertising and analytics storage stays off unless you agree to it. In that default state it does not set analytics cookies.
- Clicky, which provides simple, privacy-friendly website statistics. Clicky is configured to run without cookies.
These services process technical information such as the pages you view, a general region derived from your network, your device type, and the site that referred you. We use this only to improve the website. We do not sell it.
What about the waitlist and contact forms?
If you join the early-access list or send us a message, we collect the information you type in, such as your name, email address, and message. Those submissions are delivered by email to the team that operates Earnest, using Cloudflare Email Routing, so we can reply and let you know when the app is ready. We use that contact information to respond to you and to send early-access updates, and we do not sell it or share it for advertising.
You can ask us to remove your email from the list at any time by writing to privacy@earnestplay.com.
Does the website use cookies?
The website aims to keep cookies to a minimum. Clicky runs without cookies. Google Analytics runs with consent denied by default and does not set analytics cookies in that state. If that changes because you provide consent, the relevant analytics storage would be enabled at that point.
Who do you share information with?
For the app, no one, because we collect nothing. For the website, the analytics providers named above process usage data on our behalf, and our email routing provider delivers form submissions to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell personal information.
How can you contact us about privacy?
Email privacy@earnestplay.com with any question or request, or use the contact page. Earnest is a product of Broadfield Networks LLC.
Will this policy change?
We may update this policy as Earnest grows toward its first release, for example when new features change how the app or website works. When we make a meaningful change, we will update the date at the top of this page. Because Earnest is in early access, we encourage you to check back from time to time.
