Terms of Use
These terms cover your use of the Earnest app and this website. Earnest is early-access software made by Broadfield Networks LLC, and it is provided as is while we build toward the first release. We have kept these terms plain and fair on purpose.

Who provides Earnest?
Earnest is a product of Broadfield Networks LLC. In these terms, "Earnest", "we", "us", and "our" refer to Broadfield Networks LLC. "You" means the person using the app or website. By using Earnest, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app or website.
What does early access mean here?
Earnest is version 0.1.0 and pre-launch. Early-access software is still being built, which means features may change, be added, or be removed, and you may run into bugs. We share the current state honestly on our roadmap. You should not rely on Earnest as the only safeguard for your child's device, and you remain responsible for supervising how your family uses their devices.
How may you use Earnest?
You may use Earnest for its intended purpose: helping your own family turn real tasks into earned screen time. You agree not to:
- use Earnest to break the law or to harm, deceive, or surveil another person;
- copy, resell, or redistribute the app, or attempt to reverse engineer it except where the law allows;
- interfere with the app or website, or try to access parts of them you are not authorized to use;
- use Earnest on a device you do not own or manage, or without the right to configure it.
Earnest is a tool for parents and guardians to manage devices in their own household. You are responsible for setting it up appropriately and for the choices you make about your family's screen time.
What about your device and its permissions?
Earnest asks for certain Android permissions so it can count time and enforce limits, which we explain on the security page and in the permissions guide. You decide which permissions to grant. Some enforcement features depend on those permissions and on how your specific phone handles background apps, so results can vary between devices. You are responsible for keeping your parent PIN private.
Who owns Earnest?
Broadfield Networks LLC owns the Earnest app, the Earnest name, the logo, this website, and the content on it, except where third-party materials are clearly credited. These terms do not transfer any of those rights to you. You keep ownership of the information you enter into the app, which stays on your device.
Is there any warranty?
Earnest is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We work hard to make it reliable, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its enforcement features will block every possible workaround on every device. We are honest about that ceiling on the enforcement page.
What are the limits of liability?
To the extent permitted by law, Broadfield Networks LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Earnest, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the app, which during early access is zero. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Can these terms change?
As Earnest grows toward its first release, we may update these terms. When we make a meaningful change, we will update the date at the top of this page. If you keep using Earnest after a change, that means you accept the updated terms.
