Earnest for reading habits

Earnest makes daily reading a quest that earns real screen time and builds a visible streak. Read for twenty minutes, mark it done, a parent approves, and the minutes are earned.

Instead of nagging about reading, you let it sit next to the games as one of the surest ways to earn time, and the streak does the reminding for you.

How does Earnest build a reading habit?

A habit needs a cue, an action, and a reward. Earnest supplies the cue with a daily quest, the action is the reading itself, and the reward is earned screen time plus a streak that grows.

A daily reading quest

Set read for twenty minutes as a daily quest so it shows up every day, right beside the tasks that already earn time.

Streaks that pay bonus minutes

Reading on back-to-back days builds a streak, and hitting a milestone drops extra minutes into the bank.

Badges worth chasing

Levels and badges give a young reader a reason to come back tomorrow, without turning reading into a chore.

Coins toward the next book

Let reading pay coins, then set a reward like a new book or a trip to the library that your child can save toward.

What does a reading streak earn?

Bonus minutes land automatically as the streak passes each milestone.

Where is Earnest still early?

Earnest is an early-access app (version 0.1.0) and Android-only, with no iPhone or iPad version yet. It does not track reading progress, sync a library, or check comprehension. It simply rewards the daily habit of picking up a book.

Common questions

How does the reading streak work?

Finish the reading quest on consecutive days and the streak grows. Earnest adds bonus minutes at milestones: five extra at a three-day streak, twenty at seven days, and sixty at thirty days.

Does Earnest track what my child reads?

No. Earnest does not monitor content or track reading. Your child marks the reading quest done, and you approve it with your PIN, with an optional photo if you want one.

Can I reward finishing a whole book?

Yes. Set a reward in the shop with a coin price, and let reading quests pay coins toward it, so finishing a book leads to something your child chose.
