Earnest is a small studio's answer to the screen-time fight

Earnest is made by Broadfield Networks LLC, a small software studio. It started with one dad who wanted a simple way to turn real tasks into screen time, and it grew into the Android app we are building in the open today.

How did Earnest start?

Earnest began with a request, not a pitch deck. A dad we will call Jon asked for a simple checklist: his kids would finish real tasks, he would approve them with a passcode, the apps he chose would open for a set amount of time, and there would be bedtime windows he could override when he needed to.

That was the whole idea. Finish the work, earn the time, keep a parent in control without a nightly argument. Broadfield Networks built that first version, then kept extending it into the app you see here: a time bank, a coin economy for real rewards, quests, and honest enforcement. The core is still Jon's simple request, and we have tried not to lose it.

We are keeping this modest on purpose. Earnest is early, and we would rather show you the real product than dress up a story around it.

What is Earnest trying to do?

Our mission is to help families end the screen-time battle by making time something kids earn through real effort, without the dark patterns most kids apps ship with.

Earning beats restriction

Screen time feels better when a kid worked for it. We build around effort and reward, not lockdown and monitoring.

No dark patterns

No fake urgency, no manipulative streak guilt, no ads aimed at children. The app is honest with kids and parents.

Privacy by design

The app runs on the device with no account and no data collection. A family should not have to trade privacy for a chore chart.

We are pre-launch and we say so. You can read exactly what is shipped and what is still being built.

Broadfield Networks LLC is the company behind Earnest, an independent software studio. The Android package is com.broadfieldnetworks.earnest.

We are a small team, so we describe ourselves by role rather than with invented biographies. Earnest is designed, built, and tested by the people who use it with their own families. When we have news worth sharing about the team, you will read it here first, and it will be true.
